About Us

Play with Power Sports Ministries is a family ministry designed to minister to other families. My wife Paige, and our three children, who were then 12, 10, and 6 were a significant part of the birth of this ministry and are a large part of the ministry today.  We love the Lord and we love sports. This ministry started as a result of my son’s baseball team playing a weekend tournament that meant missing church on Sunday. Our family and some of the other families on our team expressed concern about that, and based on God’s calling, I decided to lead a short devotional at the ballpark on Sunday morning before the game. Parents and kids were appreciative, and my son was very instrumental in encouraging me to have devotionals before all of our games. We did start having devotionals before many of our games.

Although missing church to play baseball has been and will continue to be a rare instance for our family, I believe that God has blessed this less than perfect situation to to form the vision for this ministry.  A couple of months after the season was over, I felt God leading me to start a sports devotional ministry, not only for baseball, but for many of the major sports.  Today, many kids and their families have a passion for sports which is requiring them to miss church periodically, or even regularly in some cases. That is an individual decision that each family must make. I am a strong believer in the local church and the many benefits that you can give and receive by being a part of the local church. This is by no means a substitute, but for those families that are missing church, I believe these devotionals can be a meaningful way for teams or families to study the Word of God.  These devotionals are not limited to use by coaches. Parents are using these as family devotionals and churches are considering using this as a series in Sunday School.

I am deeply committed as a father to spending as much time as I can with my family. I was concerned about the time this ministry might take away from my family. God then laid it on my heart to make this a family project, something that would bring us closer together as a family. God has tremendously blessed that concept, and we have spent many hours together putting together the activities, trivia questions, graphics, etc. At twelve and ten, my oldest two children are writing some of these devotionals, which is very humbling and rewarding to me as a father. They are also eager to help formulate ideas about the website, promotional products, and how to grow this ministry. The kids want to be active in this ministry because they see the impact that these devotionals can have on the lives of their friends and kids around the world. My wife has also been very instrumental in terms of doing whatever it takes to help the ministry, and to “pick up the slack” around the house as I work to get the ministry off the ground.

Plans are underway to develop up to 12 different devotionals, most of which will have a separate version for younger kids and older kids. We are also planning to expand this ministry further by translating baseball and soccer into Spanish, and maybe even other languages. I encourage you to pray for this ministry, and if you feel led to support it, we would greatly appreciate it. Please contact me directly to find out how.

We thank you for your interest in this ministry.

Sincerely,

Bryan White
